There is chocolate, and then there is Artisan du Chocolat, and I know which one I prefer. Chocolates from Artisan du Chocolat are in a different league – beautifully crafted bits of heaven using only the finest of ingredients. Once you have tried them, you will know what I mean.

This Christmas Artisan du Chocolat presents its products in beautifully designed Chimera packaging, using black line illustrations on silver metallic board with strong colour accents, featuring fantasy creatures inspired by Christmas, mythical and forest animals including reindeer, robins, owls, unicorns, phoenixes and the flying horse Pegasus.

Advent calendars have become hugely popular in recent years, and not just for children. Artisan du Chocolat have not just one but two in their Christmas offering and here is the good news:

We have one of each to give away to our readers. (For details on how to win one, see below).

The first advent calendar is the Luxury Truffles Advent Calendar, a carousel, filled with the most delicious luxury truffles. There are 24 truffles with 6 different flavours and you can find out more about them here. (Please note: the flavours are only shown on Artisan du Chocolat’s full website, not on their mobile website)

The second advent calendar – The Chimera Advent Calendar – is even more splendid, as it not only gives you 24 artisan chocolates to count down to the big day, but it also hides a special surprise for the 25th – an additional box of 15 more chocolates.

Other Christmas treats include large and small crackers. Surprise your guests with milk salted caramels or Prosecco truffles this Christmas instead of a funny hat and a lame joke. They will thank you!

I love both the Squirrel glass jar filled with either gianduja almonds or hazelnut fig gianduja and the Reindeer Noses glass jar filled with milk chocolate malted cereal balls (brown and red), lovely gifts that the recipients can enjoy long after the chocolate have been eaten.

Maple syrup and salted caramel are two of my favourite things, so if you are stuck for a present for me, this one would be perfect: A box of Salted caramel truffles with real Canadian maple syrup, beautifully packed in a jar and box-wrapped in the Chimera design.

And then there is also the cane shaped presentation box filled with 12 truffles in seasonal flavours.

Or how about a giant box of fruit and nuts for after dinner? Your guests will be impressed when you present these coated fruit and assorted nuts around 3 giant chocolate snowflakes in a snowflake shaped hexagonal box.

I remember musical boxes being very popular, so I am excited to see a return with this musical tin, filled with spiced milk and dark chocolate coated honeycomb, playing the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from Tchaikovky’s The Nutcracker. It will give you a heads up every time somebody tries to sneak a piece of chocolate.

Unicorns have been everywhere this year and I know they are beloved by children and adults alike. So why not surprise them with a hollow chocolate unicorn, made all sparkly with a metallic edible finish. They are almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

The Eat Drink and be Merry Tin has it all. It is a festive Pandora’s box of chocolates containing a wide array of the fine chocolates, from couture fresh ganaches to pearls, salted caramels, truffles, biscuit, honeycomb and coated fruit and nuts. Something for everybody.

Artisan du Chocolat’s founder Gerard Coleman, an Irishman, trained as a chef and pastry chef in Dublin, London and New York and as a chocolatier in Belgium. He is passionate about chocolate and he has supplied some of the best restaurants with his creations, among them the Fat Duck and Gordon Ramsey at Claridge’s.

You can find Aritisan du Chocolate shops in Notting Hill, Chelsea, Borough Market and Selfridge’s London, Manchester and Birmingham as well as Riyadh, Doha and Jeddah, but if you can’t visit one of their shops, you can always order online.
