We were invited to the super spooky secret launch of Lazy Oaf’s collaboration collection with Casper, the friendly ghost (and Dreamworks) at East London’s Hoxton Arches.
Set designer Rosy Nicholas had transformed the venue into a haunted house experience complete with balloon installations, mirrored walls and live animations of early Casper comic strips.
Lazy Oaf designer Gemma Shiel had exclusive access to cartoon archives, both comic strips and book covers from the Fifties, and created the mainly monochrome womenswear collection from ghostly floaty and frilly fabrics and featuring the sad little ghost who just wants to make friends.
Models from Wilhelmina drifted through the eerie mist showing off the dresses, tops and jumpers, with the soundscape provided by Morgan Hislop.
To keep spirits high throughout the evening, Sipsmith Gin sponsored Ghostini and Poltergeist Pomada cocktails along with Pistonhead beer were served. DJs Siobhan Bell and Invader Girl were behind the decks on the night and kept everybody on the dance floor.
Casper – we want to be your friends!
