Now that the weather seems to have finally gotten its act together and we are enjoying warmer temperatures and much needed sunshine, we just have to tell you about ‘The Waterside Garden’, a fantastic place for al fresco dining and drinking alongside Regent’s Canal, just 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross station.
We went along to the opening party and press preview a couple of weeks ago and we were really impressed with this venue. It is the perfect spot to enjoy warm summer evenings.
Rotunda at Kings Place has partnered with Champagne house Perrier-Jouët and sculpture gallery Pangolin London as well as local charity Global Generation who have planted an array of flowers and beautiful planters with ivy, white roses and wild strawberries to create ‘The Waterside Garden’, Astroturf, deck chairs, blankets and some fatboys (giant beanbags) have been added to give you the complete holiday feeling. Just sit down, have a meal, have a snack or have a drink and relax!
On the night there was live music and we were treated to bottomless Champagne Perrier-Jouët, ice cold beers, wine and the excellent ‘Perrier-Jouët Champagne Negroni’, expertly made by the bartender, who told me that she is from Italy and loves Campari as much as I do.
The Chef had fired up the barbecue and we had perfectly cooked steaks and lobster as well as grilled Mergues hot dogs with a variety of sauces. Canapes included beef tartare with soft quail egg, salt cod fritters with Romesco sauce and olive, feta and herb muffins. I loved both of the bowl foods: gnocchi, spinach & wild mushrooms and salmon in champagne cream sauce with sea vegetables. And what dessert would have been better to end the evening with than strawberries and cream? Perfection. Talking of perfect, the champagne chocolate truffles, made by the restaurant’s pastry chef, we were given to take home were absolutely delicious!
And talking of delicious, this is a sneak peek at what to expect from the menu:
Pan-fried dived scallops with wilted spinach, Champagne velouté and Avruga caviar
–
Free range Suffolk pork and truffle sausages, with bitter leaf salad
–
Wye Valley asparagus, truffle hollandaise
–
Texel lamb rack, grilled summer vegetables, smashed potatoes, herb and mint dressing
Makes you hungry, doesn’t it?
