Just before Christmas, we were invited to attend the launch for Joshua Kane’s brand new flagship store and tailoring shop in London’s Fitzrovia. On a relatively mild December night, London’s fashion world was out in force to congratulate and toast Joshua with Heidsieck Champagne and see his collections in their beautiful new home.
Joshua Kane, born and educated in Oxfordshire, began his formal training in the world of art and design at Oxford Brookes University before studying BA Fashion Design at Kingston University in London and graduating with a First Class Honours degree.
Joshua established his own small studio in his Islington flat where he began designing bespoke suits for private clients, but he also honed his craft by working for Brooks Brothers, Jaeger and Burberry, before taking on the role of Senior Designer for Paul Smith, where he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of design for both the British Collection and Paul Smith London within Menswear
At this point in his career he wanted to produce the first Joshua Kane Collection and with the help of talented interns, he transformed his Islington studio into a fully- fledged design studio and business. And just months after establishing his label, Joshua opened his first Flagship store in Spitalfields, East London in the summer of 2014, from where he sold his unique and distinctly British designs.
From fine tailoring to hats, leather jackets to accessories and now also women’s wear, Joshua Kane’s designs are synonymous with quality, luxury, style, and individuality but most of all his work represents a desire and passion to create from his heart.
