Aspinal of London’s London Fashion Week presentation of their AW17 collection at Claridge’s The Ballroom was a celebration of the golden age of theatre, re-exploring the Aspinal classics, while seeking new inspiration from perhaps the most elegant eras of London’s West End theatrical history.
Aspinal’s choice of fabrics are harmoniously plush, sumptuous and dramatic this season, with a colour palette for Autumn Winter featuring rich berry and scarlet red, navy, gold, blusher, grape, peacock, chanterelle, redwood and tan through to black and ivory. Aspinal return to a period of Britain’s incredible theatrical talent, dazzling performances, uplifting operetta and of course, the sparkling wit of Oscar Wilde. Also influenced by this bygone age of theatrical glamour and plush luxury, the distinctive velvet of vintage theatre seats are a strong influence, with Aspinal’s favourite bags popping up in opulent reds and chic blacks.
