We enjoyed the first series immensely and don’t have Netflix, so we have been binge watching the box set and heartily recommend it to those of you who like political thrillers.

Kiefer Sutherland returns as the accidental US president Tom Kirkman in the second series of the award-winning Designated Survivor from renowned US network ABC.

Following on from the excellent first season – where lower-level cabinet minister and ‘Designated Survivor’ Tom Kirkman (Sutherland – 24), is appointed President of the United States after an attack on the US Capitol which wipes out most of the government – we join the new leader one year into his presidency.

The second series throws all sorts of crisis at the Commander-in-Chief, both domestic and non-domestic. He must deal with airplane hijackers and border disputes, negotiations with infamous warlords and virus outbreaks.
