Latin American Tapas @ Zuaya

If you crave South American food and can’t decide on a cuisine and just one dish, stylish Zuaya in Kensington has the perfect solution: delicious Latin American tapas-style dishes from Peru, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil with European and Asian accents will satisfy everybody’s taste buds.

Just a few minutes’ walk from Kensington High Street, on the south west corner of Kensington Gardens you find the restaurant in a quiet side street, with a well-stocked marble-topped bar serving exotic cocktails and mocktails and a resident DJ on the ground floor. The stylish restaurant with low level lighting, special design features and a showcase moss wall in the basement. There is also an outside terrace.

Head Chef Francisco Lafee London (El Celler de Can Roca, Martin Berasategui, Barrafina, Ember Yard) serves a variety of sharing platters and tapas including classic dishes like garlic prawns, beef meatballs and patatas bravas, as well as unusual creations like raspberry gazpacho with feta. Warm ceviche is a signature dish, with a combination of warm and spicy, cold and sweet flavours half raw, half cooked, served with a spicy yellow Aji sauce and home-made sweet potato ice cream.

We loved the Croqueta de aji gallina – Peruvian crispy balls of chicken stew, soaked in egg & breadcrumbs and deep fried; the burrata & corn cakes, the Mexican tuna tacos, the lamb tacos with lamb shank, Moroccan Ras El Hanout & smoked pineapple and the Brazilian pao de Queijo – a cheese bread made with cassava flour and topped with home-made guava jam.

Zuaya uses only the freshest ingredients from the best suppliers from across the UK and carefully selected Mediterranean and Latin American ones.

Opened by Spanish twins Alberto and Arian Zandi, Zuaya is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, picking up nominations for best design in the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards as well as being a finalist for best restaurant & Bar in the Kensington & Chelsea Business Awards.

Arian Zandi: “We love Latin American cuisine and the culture, but we wanted t deliver an experience greater than that – a concept that incorporated a fusion of different influences, exceptional customer service, a uniquely exotic, but chic environment and a special vibe. More of a holistic or immersive dining experience.”
