Just wanted to let you all know about the chance to visit the Forman & Field Smokehouse on Fish Island in Hackney Wick at the end of the month. Sounds like a lot of fun and you could even win a masterclass in salmon carving. We’ll be there!

On Saturday 27^th February Forman & Field is delighted to be throwing open our doors at their East London riverside Smokehouse to the food-loving public for our annual open day. From the fresh fish and seasonal produce in the Street Market to the gleaming kilns of the Smokehouse it will be access all areas as visitors are free to roam the factory on a Willy Wonkaesque tour.

The smokehouse will be open from 11am – 4pm with plenty of great produce to try and buy. With smoked salmon and plenty of other Forman & Field favourites why not stock up for an indulgent Saturday night in. Or, with Mother’s Day just around the corner, pick out some delectable artisan treats for mum.

As well as talks from our producers and demonstrations, you’ll be able to take a behind the scenes tour of the smokehouse and peruse the on-site exhibition of the works of Adam Forman (no relation!). There will be the chance to win a Salmon Carving Masterclass and some great discounts on produce to buy on the day.

Lance Forman explains, “My family have been smoking salmon in East London for four generations. We are proud of what we do and we want people to come along and share our passion. I love the chance to show off our amazing food destination to customers, friends and neighbours. We are a part of London’s food heritage and have a real story to tell. This will be a fascinating and fun day out for anyone interested in good local food. Our open days are always enormous fun. Our last event was one of the most fun-filled days ever had on Fish Island. The team at Forman & Field worked tirelessly from 4am to ensure that everyone had a great day. The passion of all our artisan producers was evidently clear, and the mutual respect for each other’s products was apparent in the number of suppliers purchasing each other’s merchandise!”
