Returning to London for its fourth year in a row, the Festival of Heat is the UK’s premier Chilli festival celebrating every aspect of the tasty chilli and will take place on Sunday 25th September at Shoreditch’s culinary hub, the Red Market.
The festivals events focus on eating, growing and cooking with the ingredient and festival-goers will be able to take part in workshops and tasting sessions, pick up spicy supplies in the market, enjoy entertainment and live music throughout the day and sip chilli infused drinks at the bar.
Acclaimed street vendor turned private catering company, White Men Can’t Jerk, will be one of the featured vendors serving up delicious dishes on the day. Also featured are the likes of Burning Desire, Sidekick Sauces, and Firefoods. Flavour Gurus from Made in Hackney reveal their secrets in the Festival Kitchen through masterclasses, workshops and demonstrations, including ‘Growing the Perfect Chilli’, and ‘Cooking with Chilli’ to achieve the perfect Heat.
“In an age where local trade and community values are being eroded by wider global interests,” festival founder Rossana Leal says, “It’s especially important to create spaces in communities…Growing, cooking & sharing food brings people together.”
Chilli trader Capsicana, one the many UK- grown chilli producers attending the festival, praises “I’ve been doing the Festival of Heat since its 1st year and it gets better every year, it’s one of the best vibes you will find at a food fest anywhere”.
