According to research from Italian spirits brand Aperol, over half (56%) of Brits think they have lost all spontaneity – with a fifth of Londoners (22%) saying they haven’t been for a spontaneous drink with a friend in over 5 months.

Help is at hand with Aperol bringing back The Aperol Spritz Sundial Social to London’s Southbank from 11th – 15th July. This pop-up bar will offer ‘gratuiti’ Aperol Spritz to Londoners, so that they can rediscover the joy of spontaneous fun with friends and experience a taste of Italy’s aperitivo culture.

What is aperitivo culture, I hear you ask?

The ‘Aperitivo Hour’ in Italy is a ritual of a natural casual gettogether at the end of the day – over a drink or two – which usually starts with an Aperol Spritz, the nation’s number one cocktail. The evening might go on elsewhere after that (or maybe not), but it is most definitely a fantastic way to destress and relax after leaving work or after a long, hot day whatever you might have been doing.

To help Londoners start their evening the Italian way, the Aperol Spritz Sundial Social will offer a perfectly balanced Aperol Spritz serve – completely free of charge – when the sundial strikes ‘aperitivo hour’. There is no need to book in advance – just turn up, order your free* Aperol Spritz and enjoy the contagious Italian fun. With music and nibbles, as well as Aperol fussball and table tennis, simply soak up the sun with friends and see where the evening takes you.

Where? The pop-up installation and bar will be in the Queen’s Stone area in Southbank adjacent to the Thames and alongside Oxo Tower by Bernie Spain Gardens.
