This summer you will be able to find a little bit of Provence in Westminster, just a few minutes’ walk from Parliament Square and St. James’s Park – The Terrace at the wonderful St. Ermin’s Hotel in Caxton Street.
The hotel’s terrace, overlooking the hotel’s gardened courtyard, has been transformed into a calm oasis reminiscent of the South of France with the help of lavender plants, citrus trees and bougainvillea – the perfect calm and relaxing retreat from the heat and noise of the city. Partnering up with world-famous Château la Gordonne rosé wine, you can sip Provence’s signature drink paired with delicious Provençal food and pretend you are on a glamorous holiday with the French Riviera just around the corner – for a little while at least.

Wines are available by the bottle or glass, you can try several of the wines in form of a flight, or, if you like your drinks really cold, like me, have a frozen cocktail, for example the wonderful refreshing Frozé featuring Les Gravieres Rosé, strawberry and lemon which I highly recommend.
The new bar menu features Provençal dishes using fresh ingredients from the hotel’s rooftop garden and authentic French cooking to complement the rosé wines. Smaller plates include Panisse – moreish chickpea fries with Roquefort cheese dip and herb sea salt and other classics like Pissaladière – black olive and anchovy pizza, Aligot – creamy potatoes with Tomme de Savoie cheese and baguette or Salade Niçoise – new potatoes, green beans, eggs, olives and anchovies with vinaigrette dressing. I loved the sharing plates of seriously wonderful French cured charcuterie and fromage with figs, chutney and baguette and Légumes grilles and garlic bread. The desserts are equally beautiful: Savarin aux fruits – orange blossom-soaked sponge with orange cream or Entremet abricots et amandes – apricot, almond & yoghurt cake with apricot & thyme sorbet.
I could happily spend hours here; chilling, re-charging and enjoying life, food and wine.
Here’s to a lovely long summer filled with sunshiny days and warm evenings!
