Fans of the wonderful fries from Poptata will welcome the news that their branch in Tooting Market now comes with something extra special – a cocktail bar, appropriately called ‘Top of the Pop’.
The upstairs bar on the mezzanine floor, which mixes industrial design with greenery, overlooks the busy market and offers cocktails, craft beers and wines to go with Poptata’s signature street fries.
There is a Gin & Tonic trolley as well as Espresso Martinis and Aperol Spritz on tap, and the signature cocktail menu features botanical twists on classic cocktails. Here are a few examples of what to expect.:
Feisty Sour – Fortified Amaretto, Grapefruit Juice, Lime Juice, Smokey Syrup (£8)
Girlie Door – Belvedere Vodka, Luxardo Maraschino, Pineapple, Belvoir Raspberry, Rose Cordial (£8)
Mi Hermosita – Jose Cuervo Tequila, Aperol, Lime Juice, Sugar, Fizzy Blood Orange (£8)
Negroncino – Coffee infused Campari, Gin, Cocchi Vermouth Torino
Downstairs, Poptata serves its enticing menu of premium fries, perfectly cooked and topped with a wide array of seasonings, sauces, cheeses and more. Hand-cut every day from British potatoes and then double-fried, Poptata’s menu has three sections – Classic, Cheesy and Loaded and you can customise by adding dips. We had the Halloumi Fries with Pink Garlic Mayo to start with and a portion of Guaca (cheesy fries with smashed avocado, grilled halloumi and roasted pepper sauce) and Portobello Fries (with mature cheddar and caramelised onion & mustard sauce). At a previous visit to their Boxpark Shoreditch branch (you can read about it here) we tried the Cowboy Fries (with mature cheddar & smoky barbecue sauce) and the Pulled Pork Fries (cheesy fries, barbecue sauce, sour cream, topped with pulled pork and green onions)
Opening Hours:
Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 10.30pm, Sunday 11am – 7.30pm
