As Chelsea blooms this month with the May Flower Show, innovative sock label Look Mate launch their latest timely collaboration, the ‘Blooming’ sock by brother and sister design duo Scout Editions.
In the latest installment of socks meeting art; design meeting functionality, brother and sister Wai and Pui’s design was inspired by the arrival of Spring and nature, which informs much of their work. Crafted from the finest combed cotton available and designed to a high standard, the socks feature a striking flora and fauna design with plant life literally blooming from your feet, prompting the wearer to exclaim “Look Mate”.
As keen travellers who share a love of art, design, fashion and interiors, storytelling and folklore, Scout Editions have worked with Colette, Paris, The Conran Shop, Paul Smith and the Design Museum in London. Their design and ethos were in perfect synergy with Look Mate’s own philosophy. Designed for both men and women, Look Mate caters to the modern city dweller seeking a versatile, eye-catching sock for everyday wear, when the wearer steps out in their Look Mate sock, they will be sporting a special collaboration with a talented designer unlike any other. Every pair of socks is produced to a high standard of craftsmanship by a father-daughter team in Vahan’s hometown in Armenia and the socks are tested time and time again until perfection is reached.
Look Mate works with designers from all creative walks of life such as furniture designers to visual artists, each of whom have crafted a sock design to embody their own individual themes and personality. Each month Look Mate release a new design collaboration and Scout Editions joins a roll call of names such as designer Daniel Triendl, creative David Harutyunyan, the Spanish illustration duo Cachete Jack, art director and graphic designer, Daniel Forer, illustrators Gabriela Del Velle and Louise Lockhart and industrial designer and engineer Nick Rawcliffe.
