The Commitments 25th Anniversary Competition

This competition is now closed!

The winner is: Allan Wilson. Congratulations!

25 years ago, in 1991, ‘The Commitments’ first burst on to our screens with their infectious brand of Irish Soul and to this day it is still one of our favourite movies. Director Alan Parker assembled a fantastic cast to tell the story of how band manager Jimmy Rabbitte gathers a motley crew of ten musicians from the rough streets of working class Dublin with the plan to form the world’s greatest band.

To celebrate this anniversary, we have this brilliant prize for you:

The prize consists of the special 25th Anniversary Edition DVD & Digital Copy of ‘The Commitments’ (rated 15) with lots of extra features, ‘The Commitments’ CD with music from the Original Movie Soundtrack and a paperback copy of the book ‘The Commitments’ by Roddy Doyle which the film is based on – all in a limited edition ‘The Commitments’ tote bag.

As always, there are three ways to enter:

Just answer this question:

What year was ‘The Commitments’ first shown in cinemas?

  • you can enter by commenting with the answer on the ‘The Commitments’ competition article on our website
  • or like our facebook page London-Olios and comment on the competition article with the answer to the question.
  • or follow our twitter page @londonolios, retweet the competition tweet and reply with the answer.

Each time you answer or comment it will count as a separate entry, so you can have three chances to win. You can enter until midnight on Monday 31st October 2016 and the winner will be announced the following weekend. There is one prize only. Entries are open to anybody with an UK address over the age of 18.

Good luck!
